Blythe continues to be honored by the greatest fashion designers. No doubt about it! She started to be a high fashion model in the book Blythe Style (Gina Garan, Chronicle Books, 2005), modeling outfits from Gucci, Prada, Christian Dior, Versace, Sonia Rykiel, Marni to name only a few. Vogue Japan featured the 100 to-die-for outfits, as well as exhibitions around the world, and the dolls ended up in an auction sale for children’s charities.
This year, back in March, Target ads featured Blythe dolls to promote an affordable Alexander McQueen clothing line. It isn’t surprising for me to find out that Mark Jacobs was the strategy consultant for the launch campaign. This guy always knows what’s hot!

As you can see on the pictures, various Blythe dolls are wearing miniature versions of the McQueen’s new Target line. In addition to their “human-like personalities” which makes it easy to use them as fashion models, Blythe dolls work perfectly with both McQueen’s designs and personality. “Blythe dolls also have a strong cult following and are very much part of the underground, this also spoke very clearly to the McQueen brand heritage which has been built on many ideas stemming from different anti-establishment social groups from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.”
