I was completely saddened to learn about the death of Alexander McQueen. The visionary fashion designer, also often called the “bad boy” of fashion, passed away exactly month ago, on February 11, at 40 years old. Way too early…

Alexander McQueen, October 2009.
I have always been an admirer of McQueen’s creativity and talent. He truly revolutionized the world of fashion with incredibly beautiful clothes and original fashion shows. Actually, I already talked about him on this blog because of his Target ads featuring Blythe dolls. McQueen had definitely always been ahead of its time!
Today, I wanted to tell you about a second connection between McQueen and Blythe. His last runway in Paris, and one of the most significant, showed us reptilian figures of futuristic sirens appearing in amphibian make-up and kaleidoscope printed dresses. At their feet, the spectacular supermodels were wearing “Armadillo” shoes, which have spilled much ink over the past six months and have been adopted by many stars, including Lady Gaga in her music video Bad Romance… and Blythe!

Eugenio Monje is the talented designer who created the Armadillo shoes for Blythe, and he called his shop with lots of humor: These Shoes Are Not For Walking (TSANFW). These shoes are not “ready-to-wear” either. They are “art-to-wear”! Roz took the most stunning pictures of them and, as you can see, Blythe has nothing to envy supermodels!
